CARBON MONOXIDE POLLUTION OF URBAN AIR
RESEARCH AIMED AT AN EVALUATION OF THE CARBON MONOXIDE CONTAMINANT EMITTED BY ROAD TRAFFIC IN URBAN SITUATIONS IS DESCRIBED. THIS RESEARCH INVOLVES INVESTIGATIONS OF THE LEVELS OF CARBON MONOXIDE PRESENT AT THE ROAD INTERSECTIONS IN BIRMINGHAM AND RELATES THESE LEVELS TO THE TRAFFIC WHICH PRODUCES THE POLLUTANT. A BRIEF DISCUSSION OF THE NATURE OF CARBON MONOXIDE AND ITS PHYSIOLOGICAL EFFECTS IS INCLUDED, TOGETHER WITH A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE APPARATUS USED TO MAKE THE OBSERVATIONS. /HSL/
