DRIVING RECORDS OF PERSONS HOSPITALIZED FOR SUICIDAL GESTURES
NAMES OF 915 PERSONS HOSPITALIZED FOR SUICIDAL GESTURES IN THE YEARS 1963, 1964, AND 1965 WERE OBTAINED FROM THE RECORDS OF KING COUNTY HOSPITAL, SEATTLE, WASH. OF THIS GROUP, 438 PERSONS HAD VALID WASHINGTON STATE DRIVER LICENSES. THE RECORDS OF THESE DRIVERS WERE COMPARED WITH THE 687,228 DRIVING RECORDS OF PERSONS LIVING IN KING COUNTY. THE SUICIDAL GESTURE GROUP HAD A STATISTICALLY HIGHER ACCIDENT RATE, 81 PERCENT HIGHER, AND VIOLATION RATE, 146 PERCENT HIGHER, THAN THE RATE FOR A COMPARABLE GROUP OF KING COUNTY DRIVERS. /HSL/
