THE USE OF PROJECTIVE TESTS IN THE SELECTION OF BUS DRIVERS
THE AFRICAN T.A.T AND S. R. T. BY DE RIDDER WERE ADMINISTERED TO 75 BUS DRIVERS. FROM ANALYSIS OF THESE PROTOCOLS, ACCIDENT LIABILITY WAS PREDICTED. A FIVE-POINT SCALE WAS USED. THESE RESULTS WERE CORRELATED WITH TWO VARIATIONS OF AN ACCIDENT CRITERION. THE CRITERIOS IS BASED ON THE TIME INTERVALS BETWEEN ACCIDENTS WHICH ARE CALCULATED BY DIVIDING A DRIVER'S TOTAL EXPOSURE BY HIS NUMBER OF ACCIDENTS. IN THE FIRST METHOD, DRIVERS WERE CLASSIFIED INTO FIVE ACCIDENT CATEGORIES ACCORDING TO TIME-INTERVALS. IN THE SECOND METHOD, THE FIVE CATEGORIES WERE GENERATED FROM THE RESULTS OF A STATISTICAL TEST FOR HETEROGENETY OF THE DRIVERS. PEARSONIAN PRODUCT-MOMENT CORRELATION COEFFICIENTS AND G-COEFFICIENTS BETWEEN TEST RESULTS AND BOTH CRITERIA WERE HIGHLY SIGNIFICANT. THESE INDICATE THAT THE PROJECTIVE TESTS CAN BE USED WITH A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF SUCCESS FOR THE SELECTION OF BUS DRIVERS. /AUTHOR/
