SIMULATING THE DRIVER'S VIEW OF NEW HIGHWAY DESIGN BEFORE CONSTRUCTION
AN ANIMATED MOVIE SIMULATING THE DRIVER'S VIEW OVER A NEWLY DESIGNED HIGHWAY, NOT YET CONSTRUCTED, IS NOW POSSIBLE THROUGH THE IMPLEMENTABLE SOFTWARE PACKAGE DEVELOPED IN THIS RESEARCH PROJECT. FROM DATA DEVELOPED DURING THE DESIGN PROCESS, THE PACKAGE GENERATES PERSPECTIVE VIEWS OF THE PROPOSED HIGHWAY AND DISPLAYS THEM EITHER SERIALLY TO PRODUCE ANIMATION OR SINGLY TO PERMIT EVALUATION OF ROADWAY SECTIONS. PERSPECTIVE VIEWS BASED ON HIGHWAY DESIGN DATA CAN BE USED NOT ONLY BY HIGHWAY ENGINEERS TO ELIMINATE UNSAFE FEATURES AND UNDESIRABLE CHARACTERISTICS FROM THE FINAL DESIGN, BUT ALSO BY LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS AND OTHERS CONCERNED WITH THE HIGHWAY AND ITS ENVIRONMENT TO VISUALIZE THE FINAL VIEWS AS SEEN BY THE DRIVER. /AUTHOR/
