CONSERVATION OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY IN SIGNALIZED INTERSECTIONS WOULD NOT ONLY CAUSE AN IMMEDIATE REDUCTION IN OPERATIONAL COSTS BUT ALSO AN IMMEDIATE INCREASE IN BENEFITS BY PROLONGING THE LIFE OF THE EQUIPMENT. THIS ARTICLE DESCRIBES ALTERNATIVE WAYS OF CUTTING DOWN ON ELECTRICITY. IT ALSO LOOKS AHEAD TO WHAT THE NEEDS FOR SIGNALS WILL BE IN THE FUTURE.
