A comparison of the multimodal system framework architecture ARKTRANS and related work
ARKTRANS is the Norwegian system framework architecture for multimodal freight and passenger transport. The work on ARKTRANS is based on related work like the architecture of KAREN/FRAME and the US National Architecture. However, the ARKTRANS approach differs in several ways. This paper describes these differences, the motivations for the ARKTRANS approach, and the links that can be drawn between ARKTRANS and other architectures. The differences are mainly motivated by multimodality and the need for stakeholder involvement during the architecture establishment.
