LOCATION MODEL FOR PARKING FACILITIES
PARKING POTENTIAL AT A CITY CENTER IS DERIVED BY CONSIDERING PARKING AS A DISTRIBUTION PROCESS. AUTOMOBILE TRAVEL DEMAND IS EXPRESSED BY SPATIALLY RELATED TRIP ENDS DURING A GIVEN PERIOD OF TIME. A SET OF POSSIBLE LOCATIONS FOR OFF-STREET PARKING DEVELOPMENT IS GIVEN. A PARKING DISTRIBUTION MODEL IS CONSTRUCTED, ALLOWING PARKING FACILITIES TO BE LOCATED FROM AMONG A NUMBER OF POSSIBLE SITES. A SITE IS CHOSEN IF THE PARKING POTENTIAL IS COMMENSURATE WITH THE COST OF LAND TO MAKE A PARKING DEVELOPMENT FEASIBLE.
