NATION'S FIRST METROPOLITAN ELECTRIC ROAD VEHICLE NETWORK OF EXCHANGE-RECHARGE STATIONS ESTABLISHED
THIS ARTICLE DESCRIBES THE DEMONSTRATION PROJECT TAKING PLACE IN THE BOSTON METROPOLITAN AREA WITH EXCHANGE-RECHARGE STATIONS FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES. THE STATIONS HAVE BEEN SET UP AT KEY LOCATIONS TO ACCOMODATE THE VEHICLES BATTERY PACKS WHICH MUST BE REPLACED EVERY 30 TO 40 MILES. ELECTRIC VEHICLES ARE ECONOMICAL TO MAINTAIN AND OPERATE AND ARE NON-POLLUTANTS. FOR THESE REASONS THEY ARE PARTICULARILY PRACTICAL AND EFFICIENT FOR USE IN URBAN AREAS. THE BOSTON PROJECT IS UTILIZING THE VEHICLES FOR DELIVERY SERVICE, TAXI COMPANIES, SHUTTLE SERVICES AND GOVERNMENT MAINTENANCE TEAMS.
