STATE OF THE ART IN NOISE SURVEYS
THE RESULTS OF A LITERATURE SEARCH TO DETERMINE THE METHODOLOGY TO CONDUCT A COMMUNITY NOISE SURVEY ARE PRESENTED. IT WAS FOUND THAT A WIDE SELECTION OF METHODS IS AVAILABLE TO CONDUCT SUCH A SURVEY, RANGING FROM DELIBERATE SIMPLICITY TO HIGH SOPHISTICATION. ESSENTIAL ELECTRONIC HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE AND ARE CAPABLE OF SUPPORTING ANY METHOD CHOSEN. DESPITE WHAT MAY BE TERMED A CONFUSION OF FACTS, THE METHODOLOGY HAS BEEN DETERMINED. IT IS COMPOSED OF THREE ELEMENTS: THE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF SOUND, ACOUSTICS RESPONSE OF INDIVIDUALS, AND THE INDIVIDUAL SCALED TO THE COMMUNITY LEVEL. /AUTHOR/
