The new AUS-SPEC [specifications for assets owned by local government]

AUS-SPEC is a specification system for assets primarily owned by local government, or for where local government is the consent authority. Based on feedback on the 2004 and earlier editions Standards Australia and the IPWEA are updating the structure of AUS-SPEC, its content development, its promotion to asset owners, and their agreement for publication of AUS-SPEC. The high level structure of the specification system is being changed to better reflect a life cycle approach to asset delivery and long-term management and to make provision for additional specifications. An AUS-SPEC development website is being established to enable AUS-SPEC licensees to more directly participate in specification development, while maintaining oversight of the development process by the Standards Australia committee.
