Auckland transport strategic alignment project: second project deliverable: draft common strategic view
The steering group is supportive of the current strategic view for Auckland land transport, subject to four key modifications/improvements. This support encompasses all other aspects of the current strategic view, including: 1. the need for a substantial shift to public transport over the next 30 years, starting immediately; 2. the four basic components of the public transport system (being the rapid transit network, quality transit network, local connector network, and targeted services); 3. the development of the strategic roading network, including the use of traffic management systems, to improve the operation of the existing strategic roading network; and 4. the use of travel demand management measures.
