RECENT IMPROVEMENTS IN THE (HIGHWAY) LIGHTING INDUSTRY
SOME RECENT DEVELOPMENTS PERTAINING TO HIGHWAY LIGHTING ARE LISTED, INCLUDING A BRIEF HISTORY. HOWEVER, THE MAJOR EMPHASIS IS ON THE ADVANTAGES, SUCH AS REDUCED ACCIDENT RATES THAT FIXED, CONTINUOUS ILLUMINATION OF CONTROLLED-ACCESS HIGHWAYS PROVIDE. ALTHOUGH STANDARDS FOR INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF LIGHTING SYSTEMS EXIST, NEW ONES ARE NEEDED BASED ON EXPERIENCE.
