TRANSPORTATION SAFETY ACTIVITIES OF HRB COVER WIDE RANGE OF PROBLEMS AND MODES
THE NATIONAL CONCERN FOR HIGHWAY SAFETY OVER THE PAST HALF CENTURY IS TRACED BRIEFLY, ACTIVITIES OF THE HIGHWAY RESEARCH BOARD IN THIS AREA ARE LISTED, AND RECENT AND PLANNED PROGRAMS EXPRESSING THIS ACTIVITY ARE DISCUSSED. THESE PROGRAMS ARE ADDRESSED TO MOTOR VEHICLE AND TRAFFIC LAW, RAILROAD GRADE CROSSINGS, HUMAN FACTORS, VEHICLE CHARACTERISTICS, VISIBILITY, AND CHANGEABLE-MESSAGE SIGNS.
