Ending the scandal of complacency: road safety beyond 2010: eleventh report of Session 2007-08

In this report, the progress made in reducing death and injuries and in reducing danger to vulnerable road users in the United Kingdom is examined. It focuses on the diverging trends between deaths and serious injuries. It then identifies the key actions and delivery mechanisms that are needed to reduce casualties dramatically beyond 2010. In particular, the need for a step-change in approach, overseen by a high-level independent body to ensure consistent, cross-departmental support is highlighted.
