BREATH TESTS FOR DETERMINING ALCOHOL IN THE BLOOD
The use in the courtroom of breath tests to determine blood alcohol levels is an area where legal mechanisms, i.e. courtroom procedures and implied consent laws, have been built around contributions made by Science and Technology. This article discusses these society interactions and also outlines the current state-of-the-art with respect to these breath tests, including a discussion of the physiological basis for the tests and a description of some commercial breath-testing devices.
