Performance of plain concrete pavements under accelerated loading: report on 1999/2000 program
Austroads commissioned a project titled "Design Characteristics of Rigid Pavements" which had, as its broad objectives: to validate and refine the current fatigue design criteria for plain concrete pavements (PCP); and to investigate the impact of various subbase types on the performance of PCP. The project involved the construction of several test sections comprising a plain concrete base and a range of subbases. The performance of the test sections was assessed under accelerated loading using the Accelerated Loading Facility (ALF), supported by a comprehensive program of response-to-load testing using the ALF, rigid trucks and semi-trailers and a laboratory testing program.
