A COMPUTER MODEL FOR EXCLUSIVE BUS LANES OF FREEWAYS
THERE EXISTS A NEED FOR METHODS TO QUANTITATIVELY STUDY THE OPERATIONS OF EXCLUSIVE BUS LANES. THE DEVELOPMENT OF A COMPUTER MODEL IS REPORTED, TO EVALUATE TOTAL PASSENGER TRAVEL AND DELAY TIMES, AND THE SAVINGS OR LOSS IN TOTAL PASSENGER TIME IN CHANGING FROM NORMAL LANE OPERATIONS (MIXED TRAFFIC) TO EXCLUSIVE BUS LANE OPERATIONS (SEPARATE LANES FOR BUSES AND PASSENGER CARS). A FLEXIBLE INPUT PROCEDURE IS DEVELOPED, TO ALLOW SEVERAL TYPES OF FLOW CONDITIONS TO BE USED AS A BASIS FOR THE COMPUTATIONS. A MORE GENERALIZED DEMAND CURVE THAN WAS EMPLOYED IN PREVIOUS MODELS IS USED. AS AN EXAMPLE, THE MODEL IS APPLIED TO AN ACTUAL SITUATION. /AUTHOR/
