A SEVEN-COUNTRY SURVEY WAS MADE OF THE PROVISION, LOCATION, AND DESIGN OF PUBLIC PARKING FACILITIES IN EUROPE. THE FINDINGS ARE TREATED IN TWO PARTS. PART ONE BEGINS WITH A GENERAL SURVEY OF THE STATUS OF OFF-STREET AND PUBLIC PARKING, A COMPARISON OF METER AND DISC PARKING (THE FORMER BEING HEAVILY FAVORED IN ITS EFFECTS ON TRAFFIC) AND HIGHLIGHTS OF CURRENT ATTITUDES AND PRACTICE WITH RESPECT TO PLANNING, THE INTERFACE WITH MASS TRANSPORTATION, FACILITY LOCATION, FINANCING, DESIGN, AND RESEARCH.
