INTER-INDUSTRY EMISSION CONTROL; A COOPERATIVE RESEARCH PROGRAM FOR AUTOMOTIVE EMISSION CONTROL
FOR MORE THAN THREE YEARS IIEC MEMBER COMPANIES HAVE CONDUCTED EXTENSIVE JOINT RESEARCH INTO WAYS OF PROVING FOR FOR SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN AUTOMOBILE EMISSION LEVELS. THE MEMBERSHIP INCLUDES UNITED STATES, JAPANES AND ITALIAN AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS AND OIL COMPANIES. DURING THE PAST YEAR A CONCERTED EFFORT WAS PUT FORTH TO PROVE OUT EXPERIMENTAL HARDWARE ON CONCEPT EMISSION TEST VEHICLES. THESE TEST VEHICLES WERE EQUIPPED WITH COMPLETE EMISSION- CONTROL SYSTEMS INCLUDING EITHER CATALYTIC CONVERTERS OR THERMAL REACTORS, AND OPERATED ON LOW-LEADED (0.5 GM/GAL) OR NON-LEADED FUELS. /AUTHOR/
