THE WORK OF THE ROAD USER CHARACTERISTICS SECTION OF THE RRL, CROWTHORNE IS DISCUSSED. THE RESEARCH IS DIVIDED INTO FOUR GROUPS; OBSERVATION AND CLASSIFICATION OF DIFFERENT DRIVING PATTERNS, EXPLANATION OF THESE DIFFERENT PATTERNS, EVALUATION OF THE EFFECT OF CHANGES IN ENVIRONMENT ON DRIVERS AND PEDESTRIANS, AND EXPERIMENTAL ATTEMPTS TO CHANGE PEOPLE'S BEHAVIOR. MENTION IS MADE OF AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE ROLE OF SCHOOLS IN SAFETY EDUCATION, AND DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF EXPERIMENTS ON DRIVER TRAINING USING SIMULATORS. /RRL/
