Qatar’s School Transportation System: Supporting Safety, Efficiency, and Service Quality
Qatar has experienced a significant growth in development and population this decade. Traffic is on the rise, as are student enrollments. Qatar is in the process of undertaking educational reforms, including wider choice of schools for their students. Wider school choice will have an impact on school transportation, since, with greater school choice, students will be traveling from a larger area to get to each school. This report examines issues related to modernization of Qatar's school transportation system. It explores stakeholder perspectives, describes a vision for school transportation, compares this with international norms, and sets strategic planning goals for which to strive.
