VALIDITY OF NIPS DRIVING APTITUDE TEST BATTERIES (II) - VALIDITY OF TEST 66

THE PURPOSE OF THE PRESENT STUDY WAS TO EXAMINE THE VALIDITY OF NIPS DRIVING APTITUDE TEST BATTERIES (NIPS DATB). THE NIPS DATB, A PSYCHOLOGICAL TEST, HAD BEEN ESTABLISHED TO FIND OUT AND REJECT ACCIDENT PRONE DRIVERS FROM ROAD TRAFFIC. THE TEST 66 WAS COMPRISED OF TWO TEST BATTERIES: A TEST WITH A COMPLETE FORM (66-1) AND A TEST WITH ABBREVIATED FORM (66-2). THROUGH THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE TEST 66, DRIVER'S ACCIDENT TENDENCY WOULD BE DETERMINED BY THE DISCRIMINATION RATIO VALUE AND THE DRIVERS WOULD BE SHOWN THEIR PERSONAL PROFILES SUCH AS: (1) EXACTITUDE OF PERFORMANCE, (2) DEXTERITY OF PERFORMANCE, (3) MENTAL ABILITY, (4) IMPULSIVENESS AND (5) EMOTIONAL STABILITY. THE PROCESS OF THIS STUDY WAS TO COMPARE THE TESTING SCORES (TEST 66) OF 327 TAXI CAB DRIVERS WITH THEIR ACCIDENT TENDENCY THROUGH THE MATERIALS FURNISHED BY THEIR FIRM. THE MAJOR RESULTS WERE AS FOLLOWS: (1) DISCRIMINATIVE RATIO OF THE TEST 66-1, THE INDICES OF THE TEST VALIDITY WERE 79.2% IN 20 TO 29 AGE GROUP, 64.4% IN 30 TO 39 AGE GROUP, AND 100% IN 40 TO 49 AGE GROUP, AND THE RATIO OF THE TEST 66-2 WERE 65.3% IN 20 TO 29 AGE GROUP, 59.3% IN 30 TO 39 AGE GROUP, AND 100% IN 40 TO 49 AGE GROUP, (2) THE VALIDITY OF THE TEST 66-1, WHICH INCLUDED MANY ABBREVIATED TESTS WAS HIGHER THAN THAT OF THE TEST 66-2, WHICH DID NOT INCLUDE MANY ABBREVIATED TESTS, AND (3) THE MENTAL ABILITY SHOWED THE HIGHEST VALIDITY AMONG THE FIVE INDICES OF PERSONALITY TRAITS AND THE EMOTIONAL STABILITY SHOWED THE LOWEST. /AUTHOR/
