A STUDY OF THE ADAPTABILITY OF THE AUTOMOBILE TO AUTOMATION CONTROL
THIS PAPER IS CONCERNED WITH ESTABLISHING THE SMALL-SIGNAL PARAMETERS OF A TYPICAL CONTEMPORARY AMERICAN AUTOMOBILE. DETERMINATION OF THE TRANSFER FUNCTION OF SUCH A CAR IS CARRIED OUT ALONG WITH PRESENTATION OF AN APPROXIMATE MATHEMATICAL MODEL SO THAT THE TRANSFER OF OTHER AUTOMOBILES CAN BE CALCULATED-FROM THEIR DESIGN DATA. BOUNDS ON THE LARGE-SIGNAL OR ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE PARAMETERS ARE ALSO ESTABLISHED. COMPARISONS OF CALCULATED CAR RESPONSES WITH CHASSIS DYNAMOMETER DATA AND ACUTAL ON-ROAD HIGHWAY DATA ARE INCLUDED. /AUTHOR/
