1968 ACCIDENTS OF CLASS 1 MOTOR CARRIERS OF PASSENGERS
CLASS 1 MOTOR CARRIERS ARE DEFINED AS THOSE HAVING ANNUAL OPERATING REVENUES OF $200,000 OR MORE. THE ACCIDENTS CITED RESULTED IN FATALITIES, INJURIES, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE OF $250 OR MORE. TWO HUNDRED SIXTY-THREE CARRIERS REPORTED 1,828 ACCIDENTS, RESULTING IN 121 FATALITIES, 3,465 INJURIES AND $3,107,040 PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE ACCIDENT FREQUENCY RATE PER MILLION VEHICLE MILES WAS 1.50. THE FATALITY RATE PER 100 MILLION VEHICLE MILES WAS 9.93. THE DATA PRESENTED ARE DEEMED ADEQUATE TO IDENTIFY ACCIDENT TRENDS AND PROBLEM AREAS PECULIAR TO INTERSTATE OPERATIONS.
