ACCIDENT PREDICTION CURVES FOR TWO LANE RURAL HIGHWAYS IN WYOMING
THE DEVELOPMENT OF ACCIDENT, INJURY, AND FATALITY PREDICTION CURVES FOR TWO-LANE RURAL HIGHWAYS IN WYOMING IS REPORTED. THE DATA USED IN THE STUDY CONSISTED OF CONSTRUCTION PLANS, TRAFFIC COUNTS, AND ACCIDENT RECORDS. THE RESULTS DISCLOSED A LOW CORRELATION FOR FATALITIES VS. ACCIDENTS, INDICATING THAT ACCIDENTS ARE NOT A GOOD MEASURE OF FATALITIES. THE INJURY PREDICTION CURVE APPROXIMATES THREE INJURIES FOR EVERY FOUR ACCIDENTS.
