PARKING TOWER
THE PARKING TOWER IS A SERIES OF MINI-GARAGES UTILIZING THE CONCEPT OF A STEEL TOWER WITH 22 PLATFORMS WHICH FORM THE MINI-GARAGES. THE PLATFORMS MOVE UP ONE SIDE AND DOWN THE OTHER SIDE IN FERRISWHEEL FASHION. SUCH A STRUCTURE WITH A 22-CAR CAPACITY REQUIRES 500 SQUARE FEET OF LAND. WHEN THE MOTORIST RETURNS TO THE PARKING TOWER, HIS AUTO MAY BE RETRIEVED WITHIN AN AVERAGE TIME OF 45 SECONDS, DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF PARKING TOWER UNIT. RETRIEVAL IS ACCOMPLISHED BY THE TURN OF A KEY, INSERTION OF COINS, PUSHING A BUTTON, OR USE OF A CREDIT CARD. THERE ARE PRESENTLY FOURTEEN PARKING TOWERS IN USE.
