TRENDS ON TRAFFIC OFFENCES CAUSED BY ALCOHOL AFTER THE 1ST LAW REFORMING PENALTIES
THE AUTHOR EXAMINES THE DEVELOPMENT OF ALCOHOL INDUCED TRAFFIC OFFENCES DURING THE YEARS 1970 AND 1971 WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO THE PROVINCE OF NORDRHEIN-WESTFALEN. IT IS FOUND THAT FOR 1970 THERE WAS A CONSIDERABLE INCREASE OVER 1969, WIDELY EXCEEDING THE INCREASE IN NUMBERS OF VEHICLES. FOR THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF 1971 THERE WAS A DECREASE RETROGESSION OF 2.8% COMPARED WITH 1970. FOR NORDRHEIN-WESTFALEN THERE WAS A DECREASE OF 10.1%. THIS LOCAL SUCCESS IS ATTRIBUTED TO THE CONTROL-MEASURES EXECUTED BY THE POLICE SINCE AUTUMN 1970. /TRRL/
