Forensic Visibility
This book details the complex aspects of forensic visibility. It introduces the human visual system and explains visual search, background luminance, and contrast threshold. It also addresses eyewitness testimony. The book is relevant to those involved in accident reconstruction of pedestrian accidents and automobile accidents, especially if there is some question regarding whether or not visibility played a role in contributing to the accident. A chapter is also included on aircraft mid-air collisions. Traffic accident issues discussed include the role of intersection and pavement lighting; the reliability of eyewitness testimony regarding estimates of distance; and the effect of disability glare on the eye.
