COLORED GLASSES AND COLOR VISION, WITH REFERENCE TO CAR DRIVING
FEMALE SUBJECTS WITH NORMAL COLOR VISION, 20-50 YEARS OF AGE, WERE TESTED ON THEIR ABILITY TO DO AN ANOMALOSCOPIC COLOR MATCH AND TO INTERPRET PSEUDOISOCHROMATIC PLATES WITHOUT AND WITH COLORED SUN GLASSES OF SUPPOSED GOOD QUALITY MARKEDLY AFFECTED COLOR MATCHING TO GREEN-RED QUOTIENTS OUTSIDE THE NORMAL RANGE. ONLY WITH TWO KINDS OF GLASSES, THE POLAROID GLASSES AND THE RAY BAN G 31 GLASSES WAS IT POSSIBLE TO DO A NORMAL COLOR MATCH. THE INTERPRETATION OF PSEUDOISOCHROMATIC PLATES WAS IMPARED BY GLASSES WITH HIGH ABSORPTIVE PROPERTIES. THE FINDINGS ARE DISCUSSED MAINLY IN RELATION TO THE QUESTION OF WHETHER COLOR DISCRIMINATION PLAYS ANY ROLE IN SAFE DRIVING. /HSL/
