FLOW MEASUREMENTS AT A NUMBER OF UNCONTROLLED T-JUNCTIONS

THE RESULTS OF OBSERVATIONS OF TRAFFIC FLOWS AT A NUMBER OF UNCONTROLLED T-JUNCTIONS ARE DESCRIBED, AND ARE USED TO TEST THE ABILITY OF A THEORETICAL MODEL TO PREDICT THE CAPACITY OF THE MINOR ROAD AT THIS KIND OF INTERSECTION. IT IS FOUND THAT OBSERVED AND PREDICTED FLOW VALUES ARE IN REASONABLE AGREEMENT PROVIDED THAT REALISTIC VALUES OF THE PARAMETERS OF THE MODEL ARE USED. VALUES OF THESE PARAMETERS ARE DISCUSSED. IN ADDITION, SOME GUIDANCE IS GIVEN FOR ESTIMATING MINOR-ROAD CAPACITIES AT OTHER JUNCTIONS. /AUTHOR/
