Installation Guidelines for Shinkansen High Speed Overhead Contact Lines
The installation accuracy of overhead contact lines for Shinkansen high speed trains has a considerable influence on the contact force fluctuations between the contact lines and the pantograph. However, no specific guidelines exist that specify the acceptable range of errors when installing overhead contact lines. This paper proposes a procedure for establishing installation guidelines for overhead contact lines. The procedure is based on application of a derivation method using dynamic simulation based on actual measured data. Construction guidelines are compiled for Shinkansen lines with running speeds of 300 and 320 km/h. Installation error indices and guideline ranges are also introduced. These guidelines could help improve the reliability, performance, safety and maintenance efficiency of overhead contact lines for Japan’s high speed trains.
