PLANNING FOR CAMPUS TRAFFIC AND PARKING
LONG-RANGE TRAFFIC AND PARKING PLANNING CAN PROVIDE FOR INCREASED TRAFFIC AND PARKING FACILITY DEMANDS FACED BY MOST UNIVERSITIES. A TECHNIQUE RESULTING IN A REASONABLE FORECAST OF TRAFFIC AND PARKING DEMANDS IS PRESENTED, INCLUDING COLLECTION OF INVENTORY DATA; FORECASTS OF TRAFFIC AND PARKING DEMANDS; EVALUATION OF UNIVERSITY POLICY TOWARD TRAFFIC AND PARKING, PREPARATION AND ANALYSIS OF ALTERNATE PLANS, SELECTION OF A SINGLE PLAN, AND IMPLEMENTATION TECHNIQUES. THE USE OF A QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY IN DATA COLLECTION, THE ILLUSTRATION OF CONSEQUENCES OF ALTERNATE POLICY CHOICES, AND FINANCING TECHNIQUES ARE ALSO PRESENTED. THE NEED FOR INVOLVEMENT OF ALL PERSONS AND THE NEED FOR ADEQUATE COMMUNICATIONS IS CONSIDERED. MAJOR BENEFITS OF SUCH PLANNING WILL BE AN ADEQUATE AND SAFE TRAFFIC ACCESS AND PARKING SCHEME FOR ALL CAMPUS USERS WITH MINIMUM DISRUPTION OF THE CAMPUS, MINIMUM CONFLICTS AMOND LAND USES, AND MAXIMIZATION OF SAVINGS IN FINANCING. /AUTHOR/
