Testing in progress
This article presents research from a project sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) focusing on refining the asphalt-mix design method so that laboratory tests and procedures can be incorporated as part of material specification. Currently, due emphasis for mechanical testing of asphalt concrete is not being used for asphalt material specifications Research efforts were primarily a review of literature and material specifications as follows: Review of material specifications from various DOTs; Review of technical literature on asphalt-performance tests; and Preliminary review of previous research projects conducted or funded by Mn/DOT that dealt with asphalt-performance tests.
