SEPARATED CENTER STRIPE
A NEW DESIGN IS PRESENTED WHICH WAS DEVELOPED TO MAKE CONVENTIONAL TWO-LANE HIGHWAYS SAFER WITH A SEPARATED CENTER STRIPE. THE NEW DESIGN IN BEING TESTED IN TEXAS ON U. S. 69. THE SECTION HAS A 4-FOOT SEPARATED CENTER STRIPE. THE STRIPE KEEPS TRAFFIC FARTHER APART AND SEEMS TO BE PERFORMING WELL. THIS FOUR-FOOT MEDIUM SEEMS TO PROVIDE A SAFETY ZONE BETWEEN OPPOSING LANES OF TRAFFIC.
