GIS FOR IMPROVED OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Most public transport agencies face a series of business challenges: how to provide the optimal service at the least cost, and how to maximize ridership and accessibility, all while providing high levels of customer service. Success requires an approach which relies on comprehensive information systems, which can integrate information across a number of stand-alone solutions. his paper presents the results of taking that approach: A solution which integrates key operational information into a centralized spatial database, and which delivers greater analytical capabilities to help improve service delivery and operational performance
