WHAT PRICE FREUD? PSYCHOLOGY AND THE DRIVER
VARIOUS ATTEMPTS TO APPLY PSYCHOLOGICAL TECHNIQUES TO THE ANALYSIS OF DRIVER BEHAVIOR ARE DISCUSSED, CHIEFLY THE QUENAULT DRIVER BEHAVIOR TEST. THIS TEST DIVIDES DRIVERS INTO FOUR GROUPS: SAFE, INJUDICIOUS, DISSOCIATED ACTIVE, DISSOCIATED PASSIVE. OVER 2,000 DRIVERS HAVE BEEN GIVEN THIS TEST. IT HAS BEEN FOUND THAT INJUDICIOUS DRIVERS ARE THE LEAST SAFE, FOLLOWED BY DISSOCIATED PASSIVE AND THEN DISSOCIATED ACTIVE. POSSIBILITIES OF USING PSYCHOLOGICAL TECHNIQUES FOR RETRAINING DRIVERS ARE DISCUSSED. /HSL/
