A TRAFFIC SIMULATION MODEL ON THE RN2 BETWEEN PARIS AND LE BOURGET

A TRAFFIC SIMULATION MODEL FOR THE RN.2 BETWEEN PARIS AND LE BOURGET WAS DEVELOPED WHICH ENABLED DIFFERENT TRAFFIC CONTROL POLICIES TO BE CHECKED, FACILITATED A COST-BENEFIT ANALYSIS OF THE INSTALLATION OF NEW EQUIPMENT, AND PROVIDED FOR THE SETTING UP OF A CENTRALIZED TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEM. DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF THE MODEL. THE SIMULATION ON SECTIONS BETWEEN INTERSECTIONS WAS NOT VERY DETAILED, THE SIMULATION AT INTERSECTION WAS, THE SIMULATED TIME/REAL TIME RATIO WAS 3 FOR THE LAST VERSION OF THE PROGRAM ON THE IBM 1130, 16K COMPUTER, THUS RESULTING IN LIMITED OPERATIONAL COSTS. VEHICLES WERE INDIVIDUALIZED. DELAY WAS SIMULATED ON SECTIONS BETWEEN INTERSECTIONS. EACH INTERSECTION WAS SIMULATED INDEPENDENTLY, "EVENT BY EVENT" OVER SHORT PERIODS THE LENGTH OF WHICH DEPENDED ON THE INTERACTION BETWEEN NEIGHBORING INTERSECTIONS. THE PROGRAM IS FLEXIBLE AND CAN BE EXTENDED TO ANY NETWORK. /TRRL/
