Benchmarking Environmental Performance in Freight Transportation
This paper provides an overview of how environmental benchmarking can be applied to freight transportation. It covers freight carriers (truck, rail, air, marine), shippers and freight facilities (marine ports, air ports). It describes the generic benchmarking process and discusses a framework for how environmental benchmarking can be deployed in different freight transportation organizations. The focus of the research is on air emissions, but other environmental impacts are also considered.
