Environmental Benefits and Performance Equivalence of Portland-Limestone Blended Cements
Portland-limestone blended cements have been successfully used in Europe and other countries around the world for decades. This technology provides an opportunity for reducing the environmental footprint of our concrete infrastructure while providing desired strength and durability, the hallmark characteristics of concrete. This paper briefly defines portland-limestone cements, and reviews the history of use of these hydraulic cements, several key performance attributes, and then quantifies the potential impact their use can have on sustainability.
