A REVIEW OF BENEFITS TO BE GAINED BY AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLING THE SLIP PROPERTIES OF TRUCK TIRES INDICATES THAT UP TO 40% SHORTER STOPS AND COMPLETE 'JACKKNIFE CONTROL WHEN BRAKING' IS POSSIBLE. A SIMPLE ALL-MECHANICAL DEVICE IS DESCRIBED FOR USE WITH AIR BRAKES. IT SHOWS 7-30% SHORTER STOPS, NO TIRE DEGRADATION, AND FULL STEERING CONTROL.
