STUDY OF THE CONTROL OF A SATURATED URBAN NETWORK /IN FRENCH/
THIS REPORT DESCRIBES AN APPROACH TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN OPTIMUM POLICY FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROL IN A SATURATED URBAN NETWORK, DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF THE MATHEMATICAL MODEL AND PROCESS USED, AND THE OPTIMIZATION CRITERION IS DEFINED; THE LATTER CONSISTS IN MINIMIZING THE TOTAL NUMBER OF VEHICLES IN EACH QUEUE AT THE END OF EACH CYCLE. THIS APPROACH IS COMPARED WITH THE TECHNIQUE OF MAKING THE LENGTH OF QUEUES AT DIFFERENT INTERSECTIONS THE SAME. THE OPTIMIZATION IS BASED ON LINEAR PROGRAMMING. TWO EXAMPLES OF APPLICATION ARE GIVEN. /TRRL/
