DIAMOND INTERCHANGE TRAFFIC CONTROL. VOLUME 14. DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF REAL-TIME CONTROL ALGORITHMS
THIS REPORT DISCUSSES THE RESULTS OF A STUDY FOR IDENTIFYING AND DEVELOPING CONTROL ALGORITHMS THAT ARE SUITABLE FOR COMPUTER-CONTROLLED SIGNAL SYSTEMS OF A DIAMOND INTERCHANGE COMPLEX. TWELVE CANDIDATE TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROL ALGORITHMS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED BY EXTENDING THE WORKS OF WEBSTER, YARDENI, LITTLE AND INOSE. THE CANDIDATE CONTROL ALGORITHMS FOR THE REAL-TIME CONTROL OF DIAMOND INTERCHANGES HAVE BEEN TESTED AND EVALUATED ON THE BASIS OF TRAVEL TIME AND DELAY. THE RESULTS OF THE EVALUATION HAVE IDENTIFIED PREFERRED SETS OF CONTROL ALGORITHMS.
