STATISTICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS
THE BASES FOR THE FUTURE DEVELOPMENT OF AN INFORMATION SYSTEM ARE GIVEN IN THIS REPORT. THE DESIGN OF THE INFORMATION SYSTEM IS DISCUSSED IN DETAIL TOGETHER WITH THE PRINCIPLES ON WHICH IT IS BASED. THE SYSTEM IS DEALT WITH PRIMARILY FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF QUALITY. TWO MAIN SAMPLING SYSTEMS ARE EXAMINED IN DETAIL. ACCIDENT ANALYSES AND THE REPORTING OF STATISTICAL DATA ON SELECTED ACCIDENTS ARE OUTLINED. THE PROCEDURE OF ESTIMATING EXISTING VARIABLES AND THE ANALYSIS OF VARIANCE ARE DISCUSSED IN DETAIL. THE MATHEMATICAL EXPECTATION AND VARIANCE OF A TRUNCATED, BINOMIALLY DISTRIBUTED, STOCHASTIC VARIABLE IS DEALT WITH. ATTENTION IS DRAWN TO THE EXTENT TO WHICH THE INFORMATION SOURCES, I.E. INSURANCE COMPANIES, AND THE POLICE AND PUBLIC HEALTH AUTHORITIES, SHALL BE ABLE TO CONTRIBUTE NOMINATIVE CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION. SEVERAL NUMERICAL EXAMPLES ARE GIVEN, WHICH ARE DESIGNED TO ILLUSTRATE THE CONSEQUENCES OF DIFFERENT CHOICES AND PROCEDURES. (TEDOC 618).
