Analysis of Participation Process and Information Obtained by Various Methods by Applying the "Kakiko Map" to Accessible Transportation Planning

The purpose of this study is to propose a new approach for a participatory program for accessible transportation planning by applying the Internet Mapped Information Board System “Kakiko Map” to collect a variety of information from a wide range of residents. The study is based on two actual planning case studies, Kamioooka and Tsuzuki areas in Yokohama city, using this map system to make the basic plan for accessibility improvement, a first in Japan. The study concluded that various means of collecting information within a walkable radius from transportation points from residents and users having a wide range of attributes will contribute to the improvement of accessible transportation planning.
