CONTROLLING EXHAUST EMISSIONS FROM A DIESEL ENGINE BY LPG DUAL FUELLING
THIS PAPER LOOKS BRIEFLY AT VARIOUS PROPOSED TECHNIQUES TO CONTROL SMOKE AND GASEOUS EMISSIONS FROM A DIESEL ENGINE, AND EXAMINES IN DETAIL ONE PARTICULAR METHOD WHICH SHOWS PROMISE-THE CONVERSION OF AUTO-DIESELS TO DUAL FUEL OPERATION USING A LIQUID PETROLEUM GAS AS A SECONDARY FUEL. EXPERIMENTAL DATA ARE PRESENTED COMPARING DUAL FUEL WITH NORMAL OPERATION ON A VARIETY OF ENGINES. DIRECT INJECTION DIESELS SEEM TO RESPOND EXCELLENTLY TO DUAL FUELLING, AND THIS METHOD CAN BE USED TO CONTROL SMOKE AND OR EMISSIONS OF OXIDES OF NITROGEN. (A)
