ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL IN MASS TRANSPORTATION VEHICLES
AN EVALUATION WAS MADE OF A RATIONALIZED CRITERION FOR HUMAN THERMAL COMFORT BASED ON THE MODEL THAT THE UPPER LIMIT OF COMFORT IS, THAT CONDITION WHERE THE BODY IS ABLE TO DISSIPATE TO THE SURROUNDINGS, WITHOUT SWEATING, ALL THE HEAT IT RECEIVES AND GENERATES. A RANGE OF HEAT TRANSFER CAPABILITIES IS MOST CONVENIENTLY PROVIDED BY LOCAL CONTROL OF AVERAGE AIR VELOCITY. THE IMPORTANCE OF AIR VENTILATION SYSTEM DESIGN TO AVOID CONCENTRATION BUILD-UPS FROM STRONG EMISSIONS SOURCES WAS UNDERLINED. /AUTHOR/
