DROWSINESS AND DRIVING IN A MIDDLE AGED POPULATION
A POPULATION OF MIDDLE AGED AND OLDER DRIVERS WAS SCREENED FOR PHYSICAL PROBLEMS OR PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAITS THAT MIGHT PREDISPOSE THE INDIVIDUALS TOWARD DIFFICULTIES IN STAYING ALERT WHILE DRIVING. IDENTIFICATON OF THESE PROBLEMS IS AN IMPORTANT FIRST STEP TO A SUCCESSFUL STUDY. A SMALL QUESTIONNAIRE WAS USED, THE RESULTS OF WHICH ARE REPORTED. THE METHOD AND RESULTS OF THE STUDY ARE DESCRIBED, FOLLOWED BY A DISCUSSION OF THE DATA FINDINGS. CONCLUSIONS FIND THE DROWSINESS INCIDENCE HIGH IN OLDER GROUPS. USE OF THE CATTELL PERSONALITY TESTS REVEALED NO CONSISTENT CORRELATIONS. /AUTHOR/
