DYNAMIC OPTIMIZATION OF VEHICULAR STRUCTURES

OPTIMAL DESIGN OF VEHICULAR STRUCTURES WITH RESPECT TO THEIR DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE IS CONSIDERED. THE PROBLEM OF OPTIMAL DESIGN IS STATED IN MATHEMATICAL TERMS. THE ITERATIVE OPTIMIZATION PROCEDURE IS BASED ON THE NECESSARY CONDITIONS OF THE CALCULUS OF VARIATIONS. A SIMPLE TWO DEGREES OF FREEDOM MODEL IS CONSIDERED AND A MINIMAX PRINCIPLE IS USED WHICH REDUCES THE PROBLEM TO THAT OF A FINITE DIMENSIONAL NONLINEAR PROGRAMMING PROBLEM. THE OBJECTIVE FUNCTION FOR THIS PROBLEM CONSISTS OF VARIOUS ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM VALUES OF VELOCITIES AND ACCELERATIONS. THE RESULTS FOR VARIOUS CASES OF THIS PROBLEM ARE PRESENTED. THE LISTING OF THE COMPUTER PROGRAM IS GIVEN IN AN APPENDIX. /AUTHOR/
