THE STUDY IS BASICALLY A DETERMINATION OF THE TYPES OF EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR THE OPERATION OF AN AUTOMOTIVE RESEARCH AND INVESTIGATION LABORATORY. IT SERVES AS A BASIS FOR THE DESIGN OF A LABORATORY FOR THE ANALYSIS OF AUTOMOTIVE SYSTEMS EMPLOYED BY THE UNITED STATES ARMY. THE FACILITY IS DESIGNED TO ANALYZE SIX DISTINCT SYSTEMS: POWER PLANT SYSTEM, TIRE SYSTEM, TRANSMISSION SYSTEM, STEERING SYSTEM, BRAKE SYSTEM, AND FUEL SYSTEM. SYSTEM DEFINITION AND EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE SELECTED SYSTEMS ARE PRESENTED. EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A MATERIALS LABORATORY ARE PRESENTED.
