TRANSPORTATION VIA USE OF MOTOR VEHICLES IS, TO HANDICAPPED PEOPLE, A VALUABLE MEANS OF RESTORING SELF CONFIDENCE AND ALLEVIATING THE FEELING OF USELESSNESS AND HELPLESSNESS. NOT ONLY DOES IT GREATLY WIDEN THE FIELD OR RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES, IT ALSO IS, MANY TIMES, THE ONLY PRACTICLE MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. THE AMERICAN AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION HAS PRINTED A LIST OF MANUFACTURERS, EQUIPMENT CONTROLS AND COST FOR THE HANDICAPPED ALONG WITH SOME HINTS TO CONSIDER WHEN PURCHASING. AAA HAS NOT HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO INVESTIGATE AND TEST THE VARIOUS TYPES OF MECHANICAL CONTROLS AVAILABLE AND THUS DOES NOT RECOMMEND OR GUARANTEE ANY DEVICES OF THIS TYPE.
